Just for fun, What's the largest file you have downloaded using dial-up?

For me it's like 1.8GB , Required me to leave computer on every night for a week.

So, how bout you?

Probably 8mb - by which time I got bored and then signed upto broadband

This big file i had downloaded is Norton Antivirus 2005 (25Mo). For years ago !!!

Then I got ADSL...

I use a free-download-manager.

I have done a number of 250k downloads (usp5, usp5.1, autopatch2000, autopatchxp). In the main, it can run on a low prioity stop-start while you answer emails and message boards. I have a 80mb download running in the mo.

The painfull thing is that for 2-3 years I had broadband, so to go from 300kB/s to 5kB/s, it was a hard adjustment.

Downloaded ISO of Suse bout 6 mos ago, 7 days @ 6 hrs a day[12am-6am]. I use "Free Download Manager"

I recommend FlashGet download manager v1.50 (NOT the newer versions, they tend to consume more memory).

Largest file I've downloaded through dial-up was ~730Mb. Average speed 6.2Kb/s.

The largest file I've downloaded over dial-up was a 2.5GB DVD image. I still use dial-up because nothing better is available around here.

To this day I have gathered roughly 600GB of data off the Internet.

largest file ive downloaded is ~700 mb cd image took about a week...3 or 4 hours a day.

now ive got adsl, i can download a 700 mb file in about 10 mins...

For those curious, i use http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/ proggie, v 1.9. You can start-stop things with it, and it does one after another.
