Dels Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 do you ask performa games in 2k/2k3? they should fairy well on 2k but for 2k3 as it for server use you would need to disable some service and tweak a bit some component
Mikep7779 Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 How are the games on 2k vs xp? I know 2k uses less mem and cpu to run and load, but is it worth the switch?
nmX.Memnoch Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 You won't notice any real-world difference in performance.
Sonic Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I agree with nmX.Memnoch, 2k/XP/2k3 are the same for gaming perf. , it's impossible to detect what os running on 3 pc side by side on FEAR (for example).
Aegis Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 It would be much smarter to just upgrade your graphics card.
murvun Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 side by side you can't see a difference, but try dualboot: and notice more lags in windows xp. even with nearly all visible services disabled. w2k running firewall, antivir, WLAN, firefox and vmware player: 290 threads, 30 processesw2k out of the box: 172 threads, 16 processes (66MB)(out of the box means: dx90c, ie6sp1, wm9, ... fully patched)xp out of the box: 290 threads, 20 processes (out of the box means: dx90c, ie6sp1, wm10, ... fully patched)xp with nearly no services: still 210 threads, 15 processes (108MB)
