HFSLIP & Windows XP x64

It's not supported. I'm afraid that's all I can say. Maybe TommyP or FDV can clarify it better.
I have EM64T processor, a copy of XP Pro x64 and extra empty hard drive, so I can provide some remote testing if you wish.

As far as I can tell, .INF file structure remains intact, but main OS files now reside in \AMD64 folder on the instalation CD, and \I386 contains 32-bit binaries used for WOW64 emulation layer. Which basically means files from UPDATE and SP1QFE folders have to go to \AMD64, and there's also new subfolder, SP1QFE\WOW, which contains files that have to go to \I386 directory...

Microsoft sent me a nice Discovery box for x64 technologies.

x64 CD has an I386 folder and an AMD64 one.

AMD64

For windows x64 no more win51ip but a win51ap and a win51.

For Server x64 : it is called win51aa plus the win51.

I opened them in notepad2 and they contain : "Windows".

In AMD64, there are driver.cab and driver32.cab.

Driver32.cab is approx. 500KB while driver.cab is more than 63MB.

Here is prodspec.inf for windows x64:

;
;Note to user: DO NOT ALTER OR DELETE THIS FILE.
;
[SMS Inventory Identification]
Version=1.0

[Product Specification]
Product=Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

Version=5.0
Localization=English
ServicePackNumber=0
BitVersion=40

prodspec for Server 2003:

;
;Note to user: DO NOT ALTER OR DELETE THIS FILE.
;

Version=1.0

[Product Specification]
Product=Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition

Version=5.0

Microsoft does not offer it anymore. :(

france order directlink : https://oms.one.microsoft.com/anonymous/Win...ustomerInfo.asp

if it doesn't work : http://www.microsoft.com/france/windows/xp...on/upgrade.mspx

To get it, go to your local microsoft.com page. Search for "windows x64"

In fact, you can order Server 2003 x64, windows XP x64 and a discovery kit which has both plus two other CDs and which comes in a nice DVD-box. ;)

btw, "Processeurs pris en charge : AMD Athlon 64, AMD Opteron, Intel Xeon avec Intel EM64T, Intel Pentium 4 avec Intel EM64T"

and

"Important: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition cannot be successfully installed on 64-bit Intel Itanium-based systems."

Would you mind providing me your PRODSPEC.INI file?
Yep, it's the same as already posted above.

BTW, if you need to look at the folder structure, you can actually download a 120-day trial of XP Professional x64 Edition and 180-day trial of Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition from Microsoft:

www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/facts/trial.mspx

www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/trial

These are fully working versions provided you have compatible hardware, not counting the timebomb in setupreg.hiv, and Microsoft even gives you an activation key.

I know this is a 'really' old post, but it is still a good question, and I couldn't find anything else about x64 support in HFSLIP forum searches.

Any work at all being done on this, or planned?

I've successfully done a few hfslip hacks thus far, so if it's important to you I can try to slip in some time in my weekend to figure it out. I know the structure pretty well now, so it shouldn't be that hard. Do you want QFE or GDR binaries?

Here's the last version I worked on if you like; it's based off an old version of HFSLIP. But I should warn you that I never actually ran it so there may be problems. The updated code should cover Windows Update Agent 3.0 x64 and most Type 1 hotfixes.

@cluberti: QFE binaries.
