wela Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I´ve found it. Thx for help. I have to scroll over two German MS-sites to find the link. But, it´s only available in english. So i have to wait. Have a nice day. B)
Camarade_Tux Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 (edited) I just md5'ed Apr06 english release and Feb06 french release. Conclusion : no change though languages are different. So you can use what you want. Also, I have a question : I'd like to compress *_d3dx9_** files with 7-zip and then add something into WIHU to install them or not.Is anything added to the registry or to any inf when these files are slipstreamed or are they just present in SYSTEM32 ?(which can be understood as "should I do anything else than just extracting them to SYSTEM32 ?")edit: Normally, these files, cabbed individually take 6MB.When compressed at Ultra level, solid archive, with 7-zip, they take 1.5MB. Tomcat76 Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I think extracting them into SYSTEM32 is enough but HFSLIP also installs the CAT files.
tommyp Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Be care if you decide to HFSLIP the files, if you plan on 7zip them instead. I'm not sure if the windows setup routines understand a 7zip file. You know, there are compression settings for the makecab function. It probably won't get to be as small as 7zip though.
Kramy Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 (edited) I once 7-zipped 1.5gb of SWKotOR saved games into about 10mb. Edited April 24, 2006 by Kramy
Super-Magician Posted April 25, 2006 Author Posted April 25, 2006 1.5 GB -> 10 MB???Wow... Are you sure? That doesn't seem possible. Unless the games were all "text"-based.
Kramy Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Oh, it's possible. It just means that SWKotOR has p*** poor saving. Each saved game is either 30mb or 50mb(can't remember), but apparently 98% of the data within them never changes. There's no point to save it if it doesn't change, but for some internal design reason they decided too, so 7-Zip does awesome compressing all that junk.Other games yield less awesome results...but 7-Zip is the winner for SWKotOR saves.
Camarade_Tux Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I plan to extract them with WIHU"7za e "%WIHU%\Apps\Tweak\DirectX.7z" -o%WINDIR%\SYSTEM32."And then I'll try to make windows understand 7z compression.
Super-Magician Posted June 9, 2006 Author Posted June 9, 2006 (edited) New update (June 8, 2006). See main post.Edit: Whoops, false alarm! There is no new d3dx9 CAB file this time. Only a(n) XACT update. Edited June 9, 2006 by Super-Magician
Kiki Burgh Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 (edited) would there be nothing like Jun2006_d3dx9_??_x86.cab?i'm sorry ... haven't read much yet ...just downloaded the file ... haven't extracted it yet ... Edited June 9, 2006 by Kiki Burgh
Super-Magician Posted June 9, 2006 Author Posted June 9, 2006 (edited) Quote from the main post and my post this morning:Edit: Whoops, false alarm! There is no new d3dx9 CAB file this time. Only a(n) XACT update. Also, quote from the other topic:Kiki: Nothing to take care of for the June DX9c update. There is no new d3dx9 CAB file in this one. Plus, every new d3dx9 file is automatically supported. Edited June 9, 2006 by Super-Magician
Kiki Burgh Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 thanks ... sorry ... slow reading day today for me ...been taking a couple of Starbucks Venti Caramel Macchiati already so as not to doze off ... still managed to create new ISO using 60608a earlier ... no good sleeping hours yet ... so do we still throw in this newer release via HFSLIP?
Super-Magician Posted June 9, 2006 Author Posted June 9, 2006 so do we still throw in this newer release via HFSLIP?I'm not sure what you mean here. Actually, I'm not even sure if you get my point yet. There is nothing new in this release that is supported by HFSLIP. There is a XACT update, but HFSLIP doesn't support that. You can throw it in HFCABS, but nothing will be done with it. I posted the update here before I realized that nothing new was supported. That's why I added in "false alarm."
