Can anyone tell me wat are the main disadvantages of using the satellite internet connection with 1mb/sec speed ,no threshold and 128 kbps upload??

I was looking at a satellite point to point connection to my remote branch 8 miles away. The advantages are you really only pay a startup cost and that is it.. disadvantage.... you are paying a BIG startup cost

As far as for regular internet. One of my old clients had that and it was really silly and un-scalable.. you needed specific software installed on the computer which only slows down the pc.. and they restricted how many computers could connect to it which I wasnt happy with...

I have a Direcway satellite connection and the only problem is the FEE, that is much higher than a corresponding DSL one (and the speed is lower).

The Direcway uses a sort of router, so no problem in setting it up, 100% compatible with existing network.

Satellite internet connections also have higher latencies which won't matter for web browsing etc. but for gaming it will cause lag.

i have a few friends who are on satellite, they are always complaining about high latency and unreliability. the cost is also extremely high but they dont seem to care about that.
