Stead Posted March 18, 2006 Share Posted March 18, 2006 i have a hitachi drive, and it tells me if i put it in sata II mode, then attempt to put the drive into a sata I only board, the board won't see it, and i ahve to set it back to sata I mode to be able to use it...it also said by default all sata II drives are setup for sata I.i also had to enable NCQ and it said the same warning.jsut thought i'd add my experiances! gdogg Posted March 20, 2006 Share Posted March 20, 2006 I have some samsung spinpoint, my first drive on my 4 drive sata II raid, gets 205MB /S , I find these drives great, just add a jumper for sata I , I am sure these things are just as fast in sata I mode.
