Maleko Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Ok, simple question.Will a SATA II hard drive work on a SATA I motherboard? (obviously only at SATA I speeds)I recon they most likely are, but just wanna make sure!

Stead Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 i have a hitachi drive, and it tells me if i put it in sata II mode, then attempt to put the drive into a sata I only board, the board won't see it, and i ahve to set it back to sata I mode to be able to use it...it also said by default all sata II drives are setup for sata I.i also had to enable NCQ and it said the same warning.jsut thought i'd add my experiances!

gdogg Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I have some samsung spinpoint, my first drive on my 4 drive sata II raid, gets 205MB /S , I find these drives great, just add a jumper for sata I , I am sure these things are just as fast in sata I mode.
