:( I have an mpeg file that's virtually impossible to get rid of. Whenver I right click on the file itself I get: add to playlist, add to burnlist, add to sync list, and add to now playing list. There's no delete option, and it's impossible to drag it into another folder or rename it. Whenever I try to rename it a little window ding sound happens. I'm practically tearing my hair out over trying to delete this impossible to delete file. Any helpful solutions to this problem would be gratefully appreciated!

if you are using XP pro, then deny permision access to the file by deleting all users from the security tab. Reboot and then add just yourself as a user with access and delete it.

Open a command prompt window and get yourself into the directory of the file you're trying to delete...

Bring up the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del)

End the "Explorer.exe" process, this will shut the shell down, but your command prompt will still be open. From the command prompt delete the file... If it says it's still in use then yeah... Get the unlocker program...

You can fix this "bug" of windows with that regkey

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.mpg\shellex\PropertyHandler]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.mpeg\shellex\PropertyHandler]

Call Ghost Busters!

I had a similar problem last week, a darn folder wouldn't delete. I booted into safe mode like someone above suggested, and was able to delete the folder.
