prathapml Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 OMG, wow!I wanted something like this since a long time! With thanks to DL, for informing me about it http://www.beeblebrox.org/hashtab/index.phpHashTab v1.9HashTab is a Windows shell extension which adds a tab called "File Hashes" to the Windows Explorer file properties. The tab contains the MD5, SHA1 and CRC-32 file hashes. These are common hashes that are used to verify the integrity and authenticity of files. Many download sites list the MD5 hash along with the download link. The HashTab makes it very simple for Windows users to check these hashes on any file on the system without using external tools
Delprat Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Yes that's a great toy No one heard of a "Hash Column" ?(as with "FolderSize")
eidenk Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 It's not a shellex but you might like this one as well :http://www.slavasoft.com/hashcalc/index.htmGood for the SendTo folderAnd alsohttp://www.slavasoft.com/fsum/index.htm
Bâshrat the Sneaky Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I've been using this proggie for months now On the occasions that I need to compare files this is the killer tool...!
Scubar Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 wow this is a truly excellent little gadget. up until now ive been using hashcalc which is also excellent. anyone know if this can be made so that it can be installed from the svcpack.inf
LLXX Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Here's the one I used to use: http://www.whitsoftdev.com/md5/Only 20Kb, but I've since written my own 2Kb one
Axed Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I also love this program! My biggest problem with it tho is that you cant save hashes easily, or i just havent worked out how to do it yet.
eidenk Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 This HashTab does not seem to install properly on 98/ME. The file gets written to my disk but it seems nothing gets written to the registry.I have tried to use regsvr32 to register the dll as you can usually do but it won't work. Can someone be kind enough to post the registry entries Hashtab writes in your system ?
DigeratiPrime Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 usually when i calculate an md5 sum for a file it takes a while, how does this program compare?when i view file properties will it 'pause' to get the md5?
prathapml Posted March 10, 2006 Author Posted March 10, 2006 It does not "pause" straightaway, it calculates the MD5/CRC only when you select the tab (general/summary/Hash).And yes, on really large files, it does take a while.
