And disable DNS? Yea disable it if you don't want to your computer to be able to resolve domain names to IP addresses (ie - web browse).

January 29, 200620 yr Correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't the HOSTS file slow as hell? The computer checks it every time you access a webpage, thus slowing down the browsing process.
January 29, 200620 yr It's easy enough to test it out yourself. Give it a shot. Just reboot after changing the file over. The first thing you should notice is that it takes forever and a day for your NIC to initialize.
