hbinded
Hi guys. I have this small problem with my PC. When I open a folder, the CPU usage goes up to 100%. There are no .avi's in any of my folders, but when I look in task manger, I see that explorer.exe is using upto 99% of my system's resources. What could be the problem? I have upgraded the drivers for my motherboard, and tried re-installing windows, but this has not helped at all. Please help me out!! Thanks in advance. jcarle
I'd most likely suspect a virus/spyware/toolbar.
hbinded
I don't think so. I just Formatted my HDD and re-installed wind0ws. (about 1hr ago). But still I have the problem. That's why I thought I'd seek professional help (MSFN)!!!
LLXX
If it goes back down, there's nothing wrong. CPU usage is supposed to rise when you're doing something.

Vitalix
Do you have thumbnail previews on? If you have MPEGs or picture or anything in there, it will try to render them when you first open. Once rendered, the CPU will go down, if you have thumbnails enabled.
suryad
I think it would depend on the kind of CPU you have. I have a 3.4 ghz HT Intel (yuck) and mine only gooes up to 7%.
Aegis
Same here. Barely any increase in CPU usage. Do you have a very old processor? Even my XP 2600+ can handle Explorer pretty easily.
