Hello: Glad to find you guys..Hope someone can help me...

I had to reformat my computer. I am running 98SE and can not seem to update to IE6...Everytime I have tried to install IE6 half way through it says I am missing some components...I have tried manual install, getting IE from other site...My download dialog box does not work but I can use firefox brower to download files or old IE5 with right click and save target as...

I was given a new SLR digital Cannon camera for Christmas and the program for it will not run without a newer version of IE..Can someone help me...have sent email asking for help from Microsoft but no answer back...Is there a program that will scan my computer and tell me if I need updates or patches for my system that is freeware???
