Need your opinion on this laptop

17" WideXGA 1280 x 800 LCD

Intel® 915PM + ICH6 Chipset mobo

80GB 5400 RPM SATA hd

256MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 6800

8X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW / 24X CD-RW Combo

1024 MB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 533MHz

this pc is not for high end gaming. its a work computer to run moderate games.

cant lower the video card, thats the only one :P and im upping the ram to 1 gig, now that i think it over. www.tomshardware.com helped me make up my mind lol.

i cant really get a link cuz its like, my settings lol. i can give the link and request number. its an alienware pc (and please, no one tell me to go to dell, the've been p***ing me off like mad these day)

The VC really isn't that fast. It's clocked down so that it'll use less battery power. Also, the processor isn't powerfull enough to play any high end games like "Fear", which recommends 3GHz proc., well. It's good for all around use though so that's cool. It's also awesome that the Pentium M has internal wireless capability. It's good for an everyday use, but no laptop can ever trully beat a good ol' desktop.

im just not sure if i should get 512 or 1024 MB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 533MHz

if its possible to run properly with 512, tell me. it will save me 150$ :P

well whats the maxium ammount of ram ur computer will take?

the max is 1 gig, which is probably what i'll do. im not gonna be using it for hardcore gaming. i should add that in the top post. its going to be a work pc, possibly running a few games that have been running on my 2.Ghz machine. also, these games arn't high end lol ;)

It even applies to bytes of RAM! :D

That chipset should support more than 1GB RAM...unless Intel limited the mobile version.

nope, nothing is limited, i just have 2 slots though, and the max i can add (because im buying a specific laptop but upgraded) is 2 gig on their site. i dont need more anyways.
