XL-DJK Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Hello Crew, here's one I wonder if all you guys/gals can help me tackle: eDonkey2000 comes nsis'd... i want to make an msi out of it to act pretty much like the nsis installer it's packaged in.(something like how Winamp.msi is created to imitate the nsis installer) Give it a shot, it does NOT have SPYWARE, but it does however, come with adware for the non-purchased users (gives options to not install the adware bundled, but includes email banners in the top right of the program if not registered). Here's the download link to grab eDonkey2000 v1.4.3 for Win9x/ME/2000/NT/XP2003I'm using InstallShield 10.5 SP1 using Basic msi installer, however, I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to msi installers....any help is appreciated
DigeratiPrime Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 eMule was always better than ED2K. "Binaries v0.46cThis archive contains only the files you need to run eMule and needs to be unzipped, with 4 languages only"http://www.emule-project.net/home/perl/gen...l=1&rm=download
XL-DJK Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 Thanks for emule, but what about eDonkey?
phatcat42141 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Why not use shareaza as it has Gnutella 1 and Gnutella 2 and eDonkey2000 all in one. It also uses bearshare and XoLoX as well as Limewire. And in my opinion it is far faster then most other p2p programs( that is if you set it up right). Oh by the way it also handles torrents.
XL-DJK Posted January 3, 2006 Author Posted January 3, 2006 (edited) Guys, we're getting off topic here... I was asking if someone could help me create an MSI INSTALLER out of eDonkey...NOT about what's the best program out there...<shaking my head>..follow the beginning topic Edited January 3, 2006 by XL-DJK95355
phkninja Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 edonkey 2000 is supposed to be dead. The reason eMule (or eMule Plus) are mentioned is because they do the same thing, are open source and have NO adware.Sharezza is good, but after one too many popups i went to eMule Plus.
prathapml Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Try this - WinInstall-LEIt can monitor an ongoing install & generate an MSI to duplicate the same.
phatcat42141 Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Sharezza is good, but after one too many popups i went to eMule Plus.Too many popups?? In Shareaza? Umm where did you get your shareaza at? Or do you mean the chat popups? I am confused on the popups as shareaza is a spyware/ad-ware/malware/trojan/virus/etc... free software.
LLXX Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Prepare a virgin install of your desired OS on a secondary hard drive or partition, then run the NSIS under the supervision of a Regmon and a Filemon to see the files being copied and the registry entries being added or changed.Currently this seems to be the only way to do it as there is no unpacker available for NSIS - yet.
Shark007 Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 (edited) I have no interest in edonkey whatsoever. I do have some spare time on my hands.I downloaded edonkey from the link you provided, and created this msi for you.I tested the installation, seems to work fine, I didnt test it for downloads.good luck. Get the MSI here (3.62meg)Here's a Switchless Installer (3.26meg)shark Edited January 6, 2006 by Shark007

XL-DJK Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 Think it's possible to repost the download for grabs again? as your old links are dead now :'(
amigafan Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Think it's possible to repost the download for grabs again? as your old links are dead now :'(There's no point, the eDonkey client won't work anymore. It flashes up a message not to share copyrighted files and then exits. Switch to another client such as eMule.
Jeremy Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Or switch to the wonderful and incredibly fast world of torrents.
