Does the COA sticker say "OEM Product" or does it have the name of the manufacturer? If it has the manufacturer's name you can not avtivate online but will either have to call Microsoft to activate or get another copy of Windows from the manufacturer of your PC.

if you picked up a Windows XP SP2 why can't you just use that key... assuming you bought a Windows XP SP2 Retail CD.

If you're all legit, just call microsoft... its an annoying process but it'll get you back up and workin.

well SP1 keys should work with SP2 or everyone would've had to get a new copy of Windows XP when they released SP2...

since this is borderline breaking rule number 1 rule on these forums i won't go into further detail.. especially since you're using a copy that you bought for 10 dollars.

1. This is not a warez site! Links/Requests to warez and/or illegal material (porn, cracks, serials, etc..) will not be tolerated. Discussion of circumventing activation/timebombs/keygens or any other illegal activity will also not be tolerated. If you ignore any of the aforementioned you will receive a final warning. If you choose to continue, you will be banned without notice.

He has a legit license...he just lost his original media. You can purchase the Windows XP media without purchasing a license. You don't get a key to install it so if you purchase the media you must either already have a license or purchase the license seperately to get a key.

I believe it is like 4 times a year but when I was calling in I never had a problem with calling in and I did it ALOT of times...

Me too :thumbup The same key reactivates more than one time per day ! Because BSOD caused by motherboard ... switch to other model ... reactivation ... virus .... formated ... reactivation ... and I never had problem too.

Goodbye.

You're running an OEM version of Windows XP. The key will not install any other version of XP other than that supplied by the computer manufacturer that you bought your computer from.

My suggestion to you is to call up HP and see if they will send you a restore CD or a legit copy of Windows XP at no charge, proving that you bought a PC from them.

Another thing I would suggest is to not even mention you are using an illegal copy of Windows XP on your computer. Have you read the forum rules?
