Nero Burning ROM v7 installation

I have a few questions. I downloaded Nero 7.5.1.1,

I used Ironside's approach. (posted on 21 Aug). I opened up the file with WinRar. I edited the conf.txt file. I remarked the ROOTDIR and added the following lines at the end;

MSIPROPERTY MIN_DIRECTX_VER 9

#MSIPROPERTY ROOTDIR "[ProgramFilesFolder]1-Applications\Nero\Nero 7"

MSIPROPERTY SERIALNUM "xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx"

MSIPROPERTY TARGETDIR "C:\PROGRAM FILES\1-APPLICATIONS\NERO\NERO 7"

;The comment below contains SFX script commands

Setup=setupx.exe /qb /norestart SERIALNUM_USERVAL="xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx"

Path=%temp%\NeroDemo11015

Silent=1

Overwrite=1

Title=Nero 7 Demo

family=Nero 7

I saved everything, and ran the file. It installed only the programs I wanted, which was fine. But, it didn't install it to the directory that I wanted it in. Also, when I started the program, a screen popped up with my info, and serial number. I pressed enter and it came up fine after that.

Here's the questions. I would like to have Nero installed like this:

c:\Program files\1-Applications\Nero\Nero 7, is it possible to do?

Also, is there a way not to have the serial number and my information pop up when I first run the program, and lastly, what is the difference with the values 1 and 2 in line three of the SFX script. (Silent=1)

Updat to Nero 7.5.1.1 it has been released officially now anyway

And in this release you can go back to the method described in the first post in this thread to customize the install.

The config file I posted was tried on both 7.2... and 7.5.1.1, the excludes work OK, but, nothing else.

Setup=setupx.exe /qb /norestart INSTALLDIR="%ProgramFiles%\1-Applications\Nero\Nero 7" SERIALNUM_USERVAL="xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx" AGREETOLICENSE="True"

And remove the serial from the conf.txt file

If you are referring to the MSIPROPERTY's part of the conf.txt file, I have never got them to work at all either.

I hear ya', but, I thought that was the whole idea behind having this ini file was to be able to customize that that is in it as you wish. I've tried everything I can think of to make the msiproperty work. The only parameter that works is the serial number, but, never from the ini file; only if I include it in the WinRar sfx archive setup command that I repacked with WinRar 3.61-registered; very frustrating!

Thank you for the help. I edited the comment file with the text you provided. The pop up box that, I used to get doesn't come up anymore. But, the part that didn't work was specifying of install destination. It installed to c:\program files\nero\nero 7. Any ideas? Also, is there a way I could specify a specific folder to have the icons put in the start menu?

I normally like having my Start Menu organized like this: 1-Applications 2-Multimedia 3-Toolbox. So, if you or anyone else has an idea how to do this I'd be really grateful.

Version 7.5.1.1 does not create shortcuts for me. Anyone has the same problem?

TARGETDIR="%ProgramFiles%\1-Applications\Nero\Nero 7"

Insted of the INSTALLDIR command

OK i figured it out !

To install to a custom location us INSTALLDIR1=""

Example:

setupx.exe /QB /NORESTART INSTALLDIR1="%ProgramFiles%\1-Applications\Nero"

Tested Working OK!

Possibly a crazy Q however has anyone used this method & selected the items they require & further shrink the installer? Not to be confused with the seperate thread for the Nero lite ver. that does not suit everyone.

That would probably entail going through the cab's folder and removing the cab's you would'nt be using with your particular install configuration.

With 369 cab files in the cab's folder, I let you build the list of which cab file contains what.

Everything gets installed just fine, but the shortcuts in start --> programs are not created. Any idea why?
