ssmokee Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 What if any service pack does the XP pro disc youre using have? If it doesnt have any then that could be why. 48bit LBA wasnt enabled until SP1 or SP1a.
bledd Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 slipstream sp2 (or sp1 at least) into your xp disc, then re-install, will come up as fullsize then
Zxian Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Well... have you tried slipstreaming SP2 onto your XP installation? It's not necessarily your hard drive that's buggered up. I got a 200GB drive a few months ago, and it caused me all sorts of problems with my old motherboard. I upgraded my motherboard to something a little more recent, and all was well. What are the specs on this computer?[offtopic]I've said this to some other people as well... complete sentences do wonders for our ability to understand what you're saying. So i don't know if i need to replace the CD i already know that i have to get a new hard driveTurns into....So i don't know if i need to replace the CD. I already know that i have to get a new hard drive.A simple period and capital letter makes all the difference. [/offtopic]

Zxian Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 It seems like your hardware should be able to handle the drive just fine. To slipstream... there's the hard way or the easy eay. You'll need the administrative install of SP2 in any case, which you can find here.
Nerwin Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 i'm doing the hard way. It's working so far
