xtremexxx Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I have always been a fan of partition magic, using ver 8 now, and I just got disappointed. I have lost a whole partition, and got some errors while trying to do some operations in it. I would look to alternatives. Anything better out there ? I have never looked until now ? Maybe Acronis ? I keep hearing about it.
xtremexxx Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 any considerable differences between the tho ?
albator Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Partion magic since it has been bough buy norton suck (like all norton)so use Acronis Tools, there are awesome.
DigeratiPrime Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Acronis Disk Directorhttp://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/
Hatefulsorrow Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Acronis is what I use too. It's great. No Problems here
ripken204 Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 u will need to use both of them, they both will give you problems sometimes, use partition magic as ur main program and if it gives you an error on something then use acronis for that task.
casper1500 Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 well..use any thing u like but dont change it 4ever ...I think if u want to change any prog like that u must do zero format ..------------any where i use "Partition Manger".In my opinion "Acronis" better than it .....Casper1500!!
DerRickster Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Partion magic since it has been bough buy norton suck (like all norton)so use Acronis Tools, there are awesome. Boycott Norton!
Mercury_22 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I vote for BootIt Next Generation (Salut xtremexxx!)
spacesurfer Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I guess I'll be the only proponent of Norton Partition Magic. I haven't had a single problem. I've repartitioned my hard drive several times (both from within windows and from DOS). From within Windows, I've partitioned my data partitions. From DOS, I've increased the size of my OS partition to install programs. From both, I have not had any trouble, no errors, no data corruption.I've never tried Acronis and as long as Partition Magic works, I probably won't give it a try.1) Whatever you choose, it's best to backup! It's not worth the risk. 2) Run chkdsk for errors before and after repartitioning on all partitions.
