Longhorn becomes "Vista"

Featured Replies

I just read online that Longhorn has been renamed. The new name is Vista.

You can read about it here -

No, it was not renamed, Longhorn is just code name, like is Memphis for Windows 98, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_codenames

And how it is related to the topic of this forum - Unofficial Win98 SE Service Pack?

It's not Petr, but can't we make fun of it? Please, huh huh, pretty please!  :P

Nice flame-bait there ^^. Not even the right forum.

When you want to compute with the big boys, we'll probably still let you in.

The name 'vista' has been challanged, considering the problems microsoft has caused with 'windows' as a word. I think that vista is going to be a no-show.

I don't like that site.

Neptune  N/A A "Consumer" version based on the Windows 2000 codebase. Never released (became Whistler).

That's wrong. Neptune was basically a failed alpha version of ME. It was supposed to be a Home version of Windows 2000, but it most certainly didn't have the same codebase, nor kernel. It's PV is 4x (2000 is 5x). I actually have a copy.

Oh, that reminds me. I wanna run it on my VM. I've never even seen this thing. rofl.

Neptune is what XP Home is......

And FYI, many of the features that were to be introduced in Neptune are finally making it, in Vista.

the name is soo horrid my ears hurt :P

VISTA? Vista?? they thought was a great idea. I hope they change it......

i think i am going to be sick :puke:
