followed every step you pointed, and still no workie.

let me try one thing. brb 5min

Just map a drive (let's say X: ) to your server share, that way you don't need to worry about UNC paths :)

Hey Mango,

Thanks for that, although I was aware of it. I have said in an other thread that that's not really an option for me. I had my WPI 3.5 version all setup with UNC paths (about 50 apps) only to find out it didn't work; hoping someone would find a fix soon.

It seems I'll be sticking with good old batch files for now.

Cheers,

'nuff

found the culprit!

my regional setting is set to default at 'Korean' and that was why it was having problems.

i switched to English default and it is working fine.

but i don't know what the difference in 3.5 and higher is causing problem, because i'm using old version fine with current IME setting.

if you need Korean translation, i can surely help . i'd love to get updated version on my UAXP_CD

Hmm, maybe it's possible to use a temporary environment variabele?

For example:

Set SERVERPATH=<UNC path>

and then use %SERVERPATH% in your wpi ?

@kel , sorry for misspelling your name

and also i am very sorry if i boring you with my questions.

i download for the third time WPI_3_6 hoping to have the latest version.

i try to run wpi.cmd from harddisk without changes

i try many combinations , from c:\ , c:\WPI , d:\

d:\WPI , with wpi.ico inside or outside WPI folder

all runs tries to run your first choise in your sample

.netfx from my first optical drive letter

eg. : e:\install\... at my work computer , f:\install at home .

i cant manage this .

i set english for regional and same thing .

i dont try to run from cd yet , probably will work

but for testing purposes i prefere to run also from hdd .

any idea ?

tested on XP_pro_english / W2k_server_english

just regional set on default to romanian . for currency , metric system ,date format ...

for romania does not exist yet XP_romanian_CD like other language.

too small market for MS . just an update for romanian interface who can be run

after a completed english installation . i dont use this .
