I had a 160GB drive with 150GB worth of data and I accidentallly deleted the partition, and then Windows XP created a new one, but DID NOT format the drive, is there anything I can use, perferrably free, which will allow me to recover all the data which was stored there?

Currently I'm using a trial version of Active Partition Recovery, though it seems to be taking for EVER to analyze the drive...

The drive is a 160GB SATA150 Hitachi Deskstar, and was formatted using NTFS... The partition was deleted through the Windows XP x64 Edition's text setup...

ive never had this problem but i think this tool can help you but its not free :(

Handy Recovery 2.0

Handy Recovery 2.0 is an easy-to-use data recovery software designed to restore files accidentally deleted from hard disks and floppy drives. The program can recover files damaged by virus attacks, power failures and software faults or files from deleted and formatted partitions. If some program does not use Recycle Bin when deleting files, Handy Recovery can restore such files. It can also recover files moved to Recycle Bin after it has been emptied.

I'd recommend Test Disk. It saved my butt a few days ago... I thought I lost everything on my laptop. Test Disk brought it all back. :)
