gamehead200 Posted December 17, 2002 Posted December 17, 2002 I never knew System Restore could be corrupted...BTW, why doesn't System Restore restore text files and HTML files?
FthrJACK Posted December 17, 2002 Posted December 17, 2002 if its still doing it, whats your system spec and whats the power supplys rating?i expect msnwar wasnt lazy like me and actually looked the error code up. but if it still does it after the fix he posted id say its low power.
Doggie Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 I never knew System Restore could be corrupted...BTW, why doesn't System Restore restore text files and HTML files?cause it only restores programs that have been installed.. and stuff.. leaves all files as is
FthrJACK Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 theres always the option of putting your slipstreamed XP cd in the drive and doing sfc /scannow in the run shell.

Doggie Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 u up-to-date on ur windows updates? Service Pack 1 applied?
zipp51 Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 Try this;Click start,Control Panel,Performance and Maintanance, and the System icon.In the System Properties dialog box pick the Advanced tab,and click the Settings button in the Startup And Recovery section. In the System Failure section of the tab, deselect the Automatically Restart checkbox, and click OK.Cick OK again to close the System Properties dialog box.The new settings take effect immediately.By default XP automatically restarts when it encounters a system failure. This is only a problem if you would like to control when your computer restarts. If this works I would follow FthrJack's suggestion with the scannow option.Make sure you type it exact and put a space between the SFC and the /scannow.
Rick Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 Did you get this resolved Rich? What error code did you get after turning off the automatic restart and started getting the blue screen? Is there a prog that you have open when this happens? Never did get computer specs from you...I know it's a hassle but it helps us to help you. I have had an incompatibility between my vid card and some other component of my computer for over a year now and I have just learned to accept it as a screw-up from building my own computer and not checking the compatibility list good. But things like that can be ruled out by a spec rundown.Rick
