Gouki Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Is this possible? Can someone please tell me! Thanks!PS: I used search before creating this new Topic, however, if this already exists on the forum, Im sorry!
Astalavista Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 all u have to is create a self extracting rar file for your bookmarksand have it extract to your profile... simple
oioldman Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 I placed in the Default User area, so any created user has them including the Admin when build is completed.Easier to manage and see what is actually their.
<SparTacuS> Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 To clarify what Astalavista advised,1) organise your Favourites as you want them.2) Use WinRAR to pack them into a self-extracting SFX file3) Add the following as the comment section; The comment below contains SFX script commandsPath=%USERPROFILE%\Favorites\Links\Silent=1Overwrite=1Title=Installing Internet Favourites
Gouki Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 <SparTacuS> ... Thanks! But .. Where are the Favorites located? And where do I extract them into? I have all the files of my XP CD copyed ... Where do I extract the Favorites in the .rar?
<SparTacuS> Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Favourites are stored under C:\Documents and Settings\XXXXX\FavoritesWhere XXXXX is your user name.Place the *.exe that WinRAR creates somewhere in your $OEM$ directory and run it from your batch file (after your user has been created).
PROPHET Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Favourites are stored under C:\Documents and Settings\XXXXX\FavoritesWhere XXXXX is your user name.Place the *.exe that WinRAR creates somewhere in your $OEM$ directory and run it from your batch file (after your user has been created).Cant you make a cab file from them and intergrate it straight into xp so it installs them at T13...Using something like 7zip
Gee Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Wow, hashing up an old thread.I think it would be easier to do it in winnt.sifJust add the entries to[FavoritesEx]
gdkehl Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Gee,that's exactly how I do it.If there are sites that I want in favroites i list them in answer file under [FavoritesEx].for example:[FavoritesEx] Title1="Google.url" URL1="http://www.google.com/" Title2="MSFN Forum.url" URL2="http://www.msfn.org/board/" Title3="Name you give it" URL3="URL to site"
maxXPsoft Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 (edited) [FavoritesEx] Sounded stupid to me but thats my opinionWhen I have about 500I do it another way which work's rar.exe a -m3 -r Favs and extract at cleanup Edited June 4, 2006 by maxXPsoft
mazin Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 (edited) Well! Here's how we can, REALLY, slipstream our Favorites in IE installation.Slipstreamed Favorites will install for the current and every added user, afterwards. The steps:1. Take a copy of the file "install.in_" from your XP CD. (.\i386\install.in_)2. Rename it to install.cab, then extract with WinRAR, WinZip, or whatever.3. Open the extracted file "install.ins" in NotePad.4. You'll find two templates for your Favorites. is for putting your links in ..\Favorites\Links[FavoritesEx] is for putting your links in ..\FavoritesPersonally, I use the second template!5. Edit the contents to your liking, save, re-compress with MakeCab, then replce the orignal file. This is my install.ins! It shows some of my Favorites.[Branding]CompanyName=Microsoft CorporationWizard_Version=6.0.2600.0000Version=6,0,2600,0000Custom_Key=MICROSOGlobal=1IE4 Welcome Msg=1Platform=2GUID={7211FFE6-C149-11D0-AFF0-00AA003758BB}Type=0NoClear=1[URL][FavoritesEx]Title1="A - Ahha-It'Secret.url"URL1="http://I'mSorry.com/"Title2="C - Computer Problems.url"URL2="http://www.computerproblems.org/".Title6="E - Email Icon.url"URL6="http://services.nexodyne.com/email/"Title7="F - F-Prot.URL"URL7="http://www.f-prot.com/download/home_user/".Title12="G - Gmail.url"URL12="http://gmail.google.com/gmail"Title13="G - Google.url"URL13="http://www.google.com/".Title19="P - Phone Bill.url"URL19="http://billing.telecomegypt.com.eg/Arabic/customer/Customer_Bill_Inquiry.asp"Title20="S - Symantec.url"URL20="http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-N95.html".Title23="Y - Yahoo!.url"URL23="http://www.Yahoo.com"; String section for install.ins[Strings]EB0 = "Search the web"EB1 = "News"And, yes, we get rid off links like "Customize Links", "Free Hotmail", "Windows Media", etc.I hope it works for you.
