  1. this is from xcopy help /EXCLUDE:file1[+file2][+file3]... Specifies a list of files containing strings. Each string should be in a separate line in the files. When any of the strings match any part of the absolute path of the file to be copied, that file will be excluded from being copied. For example, specifying a string like \obj\ or .obj will exclude all files underneath the directory obj or all files with the .obj extension respectively. so; what command do you have so far? add the /exclude:file (or dir)
  2. Gee, that's exactly how I do it. If there are sites that I want in favroites i list them in answer file under [FavoritesEx]. for example: [FavoritesEx] Title1="Google.url" URL1="http://www.google.com/" Title2="MSFN Forum.url" URL2="http://www.msfn.org/board/" Title3="Name you give it" URL3="URL to site"
  3. Smor, that entry doesn't exist under HKLM I have been trying to disable that for every user myself. I know if I can get it into the default user profile it will take place for every user, but the problem is the program isn't installed yet. So, I just disabled it for the main accouont that will be using the computer. Smor, try this. it is the regedit that i use to disable messenger 7.5 save and double click; it will remove the entry from the currently logged in profile reboot and messenger will not auto start NoMsnMsgr.reg
  4. Hi Smor, This regedit will do it: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] "msnmsgr"=- After Messenger is installed, run that regedit. This will stop messenger 7.5 from auto starting but only for the user currently logged in. There may be a way to disable it for all accounts, anyone?
  5. What device driver are you missing?
  6. Thanks Sonic and LiquidHonesty. There was something I was missing. UnattendSwitch=Yes Much appreciated Sometimes I need to slow down and not try and re-invent the wheel; I should've looked at one of my old unattends. It happens sometimes. Anyway, appreciate it.
  7. Hello, I am unattending XP Corporate Edition and have the required entries in my winnt.sif to not show the Welcome to MS Windows screen, however it still shows up along with the Help Protect your PC. If I am correct, there are two entries that take care of this problem. [Data] AutomaticUpdates=1 or Yes (I tried both) [GuiUnattended] OemSkipWelcome=1 With both of these entries I am still getting the Welcome to MS Windows screen. Does this only happen with Corp Edition? It does not show up when I am installing XP Pro with those 2 entries.

    key not valid

Hi tommyp, I have 14 2k keys. I know, only need one. I do my testing in something like a vm, I use the unattend.bat and change the location; /tempdrive:<drive>. May be a little slower than a vm but works better in my opinion. I resolved the issue. It was a corrupt copy to my HDD from the CD. Thanks!!!

    key not valid

Hello, I can use the original cd, an older version hfslip'ed (not sure of the number) but with 60425 I get an invalid key during installation. In fact all known good keys are invalid. Unattended install of Win 2k, same winnt.sif file, just newer updates. Tried several known good keys, none working.

    missing files

A new version already. Super-Magician, I have tried both driver.cab files after using hfslip; neither work. Before using hfslip my system wasn't looking for the 3 files it is now looking for. I'll try the new version of hfslip and see if I get the files my system reports as missing.

    missing files

I tried Q306458_WxP_SP1_x86_enu.exe from MS, no luck there. If I use my original cd everything works and there is not an amdk7.sys inside driver.cab. I beleive one of the updates slipped into i386 makes amdk7.sys necessary. The hard part is figuring out which one. My xp cd works and my unattend prior to adding hotfixes works. This is the post from the problem I had with win2k http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=58652&st=0 That was fixed by using the original driver.cab. hfslip's driver.cab was only half the size and missing files. Now, with XP the hfslip driver.cab was about 3MB smaller but the original driver.cab doesn't have the files the system is looking for during install.

    missing files

Hello, I originally had missing file problems with a win2k unattend install that was fixed by using the original driver.cab file instead of the one from the sourcess folder. I have another missing file problem; this time with xp and using the original driver.cab file won't fix. The missing files are: amdk7.sys, mssbios.sys, and tunmp.sys. I did a search for this and came up empty in the forum. However, I found this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q306458 Any suggestions? If I slip q306458 will this fix the prob? thanks
  20. ok, I replaced the 28.1 Driver.cab that the .cmd made in the SOURCESS folder with the original 49.9MB driver.cab from the win 2k cd. I then burned another bootable RW. Seems everything worked out. IE6 is installed. That should be an easy fix in the .cmd since both paths are known (what and to where). Thanks for the help!!! fdv, here is the zipped report. Don't look like anything wrong there. I don't use nlite, so that wasn't the problem. Thanks again oops forgot to attach the report here it is. i mean it this time. ERROR_REPORT.zip
  21. negative on the nlite affirmative on the sp4.cab = 5.97MB I am going to try replacing the driver.cab and virtual install now report back soon! thanks
  22. My fault, that was the i386 folder. Driver.cab is 28.1 in SOURCESS. original is 49.9 size copied to cd is from SOURCESS
  23. The size on disk is 312MB Thanks for the fast response!
  24. Hello, I ran into some problems when I tried to install Win 2k after slipping ie6. I used HFSLIP 51017, have the proper files placed in the proper locations, put the new I386 folder from the SOURCESS folder in the folder containing my 2k cd and burned a bootable RW. During the install I received several errors for missing files (16) that I hit ESC to continue anyway, but got fed up and aborted the install. Some of the missing files are: icam3.inf, pjlmon.dll, rca.sys, srgb.icm, swenum.sys, and on and on. I placed the ie6 CABS, KB891861 V-2, and i386 from 2k cd in the correct folders. I ran the .cmd for the 2nd time and then replaced the old i386 folder with the new from SOURCESS. All I want is ie6 slipped, nothing extra. I messed this up, but I did follow the directions. Is it so simple that I messed this one up? Here's a link to the directions http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=ST&f=35&t=57988 Thanks, gdk
