Hi. I have to install win98 on a system where win2000 is installed. Fortunetelly there are partitions created.

But now i have a few questions:

* is it possible to make it??

* what about the partitions?? both must be active??

* what with the boot loader?? which one would you use??

Windows 9x support install/boot only on primary partition.

If you're using NTFS on Primary partition, second FAT(32) Primary partiton must be created. Main Primary partition should be inactive and hidden to minimize data loss risk.

If you're using FAT(32), you should install 9x on it.

Use "Install Operating System" wizard in PowerQuest Partiton Magic. It will do everything automatically. Do not forget to create rescue disks!

Hi, win98 needs to be installed on a primary partion which starts within the first 8gig of the HD. If you need to clone a partion to move it "xxcopy" could be handy. http://www.boot-us.com/ is a good boot loader, it has help on dual booting.

Thanks a lot. I'm still working on it because there was also extended partitions created and i had delete the and create one primary Many thanks guys becase i did know nothing. Now i'm looking for some freeware boot-manager.

Actually win98 can be also installed on an extended partition, as long as it is FAT16 or FAT32 (NOT NTFS).
