Create a CD with all the patches only for XP

I am trying to create a CD that only has (1) service pack 2 of Windows XP and all the patches since 8/8/04. I have the read the Microsoft articles but they don't discuss adding these items together.

I extract all the Service pack 2 files into a directory call XP\i386. I have created a folder call svcpack.

I have created a batch file to run all the KB files.

questions:

1. How to I add the other files below and how do I make sure that all the files installed i the proper order?

2. Do I have all the XP patches since 8/8/04?

thanks

That should be no problem at all with the right tool: XPCREATE!

1) Download and install XPCREATE from Greenmachines homepage.

2) run it once (it will create all the necessary folders)

3) place your hotfix files in the appropriate folders (see list on Greenmachines homepage "What goes where" and "Hotfix List")

As his list is a little old the "WindowsXP-KB*.exe" files are not listed. Put them all in SVC-HF1.

The desired ServicePack file goes to SPACKS dir.

4) Open XPCREATE.INI in a text editor and set

DLAUTO = NO

Also edit the other settings, if necessary.

5) Place your original XP-CD in your CDROM

6) Run XPCREATE

7) Wait until finished!

XPCREATE takes care of the correct installation order.

Greetings.

The problem that I see is that I want to install the Service pack and all the KB files. I have added all the files in the folders in XPcreate. But I get an error message that the Xpcreate can't create a hotfix list.

Something in me tells me that I will install the full version of XP where I have type in user name and serial number.

So what you are trying to do is create a cd that will patch an already installed machine, not create a slipstreamed cd that is used to completely reinstall a new machine?

@dhs13: I suspect that the error is that XPCREATE cannot download the hotfix list. Simply add the hotfixes yourself, and you should be fine. I mean ... it works for everyone else ...

I the hotfix list couldn't be downloaded as it wasn't available yet.

I wonder if the if I take the files in the svcpack folder and run the setup.exe file so I would have to 2 steps instead of one.

The hotfix lists will not be available for download for a while. In any event, they would not do too much good, as the new version does not yet support them ...

I'm really not sure what you mean, dhs13 ...

Welcome to MSFN, Niko76!

I do believe Alanoll already answered you on this! Send a request, and you will receive instructinos as soon as I can get around to it. The first batch has gone out, the second will today or tomorrow.

And please, please, please ... don't raise the wrath of GreenMachine on a weekend!
