Gurgelmeyer
There's a nice reskit on my printed 98SE CD. Is there any new stuff on Microsoft's FTP compared to the CD?(I can't connect either btw)Greetings,Gurgelmeyer
horsecharles
no new stuff-- & it was kinda old...... my memory's hazy but there is one file, maybe license.xxx? that precludes the complete install of the whole thing as a suite? though all the individual components do get installed... syntax01010
Slightly off topic, but since the 98 Resource kit link was posted and allowed, anyone know if there is a link to download the Windows 2000 or Windows XP Resource kits? If so, post please.

tomasz86
The bad news is that the Win98 Resource Kit (RK) ftp server will be shut down by MS in May 2005. So go ahead and download while you can. This is a very old topic but the funny thing is that MDGx was wrong and the FTP mentioned in the beginning still works

This is a very old topic but the funny thing is that MDGx was wrong and the FTP mentioned in the beginning still works I can confirm that. But, is there a way to download all the Resource Kit files together and with the proper directory structure? It's tedious to manually create multiple subdirectories for files that'll finish downloading in a few seconds.--JorgeA

Otherwise, in Internet Explorer (when available) "Tools->InternetOptions->Advanced" tick "Enable Folder View for FTP". With 2k3 and below (using IE6) this provides the FTP site in Explorer (Network Places) where you can Copy a whole folder to your HDD. You get the same result from FlashGet when you set the option to copy the folder structure - just go to the FTP site, make the Folder show up in the right-hand pan, right-clisk and "Download"......and a big Edit! Using MS method is SLOWWWW!!!! FlashGet is FASSSST!BTW, SOMETIMES, the FTP site is "down" as previously noted (very undependable). JorgeA
submix8c,Is this the Site Explorer you mentioned? Also, if this is the same FlashGet, then I don't think I want it anywhere near my PC! Looks like I'd have to go with the plan B you suggest. Thanks for the ideas.--JorgeA
submix8c
1 - No it is NOT the "Site Explorer" - there's one WITHIN FlashGet.2 - FlashGet v1.73 is the one I use. No special "extras", no "ads", yada-yada. Real "clean". I really don't know if it's Vista-compatible (I currently use Pre-Vista OS). Those "concerns" apparently have to do with newer versions. I've been using it for, well, YEARS!!! And not one single "concern"...edit - BTW, look here for the Change log...edit2 - another download link - claims Vista Compatibility (still unsure if on an x64 OS)edit3 - NOPE!!!! no INI even close to that. Apparently it was the SUCCESSOR versions that has that "hole". USE IT! It's safe!P.S. Don't believe everything until you investigate thoroughly.Final note here -This “vulnerability” is present in all versions of FlashGet 1.9.xx.HTH...
