Simon, how do you fix the file association if you use the /S switch? Because if you use /S, it will install everything by default (including the tray icon that I don't like), and all the media files will be associated with winamp. Are all the settings inside the winamp.ini file? Or registry is my only solution? Winamp is just an additional player for me. In fact, I only use it for online radio. So I still want my Windows Media Player to handle everyting.

EDIT: Winamp 5.06 released 11/18/04.

On their website, I can't find the version 5.07.

I didn't do one for 5.0.6 simply because I knew a new one would be out in a matter of weeks. No point wasting time.

I should get started on the MSI this weekend. And finish this weekend as well :P

Now as for these numerous threads....why do people always make a new thread asking for something or whether something still works just for a new minor version?

Geeze people.

@totoymola on the winamp dir check winamp.ini for settings but anyway i preffer to control what extensions are associated, i dedicated a thread to it (registering extensions unattended)

REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\.ogg" /VE /D "Winamp.File" /F

good thing I'm not a stickler about people not crediting me for info I gave em, huh Simon? :P
so alanoll showed us how to disable the first run prompt for winamp, enough? :P Edited by SiMoNsAyS

But seriously, there was one for 5.04, 5.05, 5.06 and now 5.07. The only reason I didn't make an MSI for 5.06 is simply because well....I already said. Serious security problem, so there would be a fix soon anyways and waste of time.

Great, I really hope they fixed all the security flaws on this winamp.

Thanks allanol for your time and work. Gonna check for updates on this thread often.

i use winamp 5.05 msi installer,

and then manually copy 5.07 changed files:

- winamp.exe

- whatsnew.txt

- plugins\in_cdda.dll

- plugins\in_mp3.dll

works for me :)

that would have been to easy :P Too bad I didn't consider doing that when I rebuilt the MSI.... :realmad: lol. Oh wells.... It's almost done. I just have to add all the associations. And then it will be ready to be released.

The INI file is the same....

I was thinking of moving it to XML seeing as the new InstallShield 10.5 supports it, but decided not to. But I do believe I might have a way to avoid that NAV message if you install NAV before the MSI. Depends if I have time to implement it. I just got my final today and it's due Thursday at 9am, so I don't plan to do much more to the MSI prior to it's release untill after Thursday (bugfixes and the work around for NAV).

alrighty....I screwed up.....

I left the Winamp MSI files on the computer at home, and now I'm back to my dorm. I won't be home till Friday....

guess that's one less distraction for me though :P Sorry.
