fdv
calios666 - we need to see what is going on.srvinstw.exe is not critical for slipstreaming.BTW, agentswitcher -- I like how you are thinking there, but unfortunately it doesn't get installed into Firefox this way. You have to install it when running Firefox. Edited September 26, 2005 by fdv

Electrician
I haven't touched the issue with the point that Electician brings up with sysoc.inf. If he's missing that file in his xp, there is something wrong with his cd. According to all that I have read, every installation source has it and I'm not sure why he said what he did. Strange. Gee, I go away for a while and I get smeared! I didn't say I was missing sysoc. What I said (perhaps not clearly) was if it existed in an UNCOMPRESSED form in the source, then there would be two copies in sourceSS. The original uncompressed, and a new compressed one.The compressed one has only your added bit - and since it got used during the install (my uncompressed 'original' being ignored) the resulting install was weird. You are confusing it, perhaps, with my other issue which was "empty.txt" - but youalready chastized me for using an OLD hfslip. Hey - I don't like to change scripts mid-stream. So Excuuuuuuuse me!
fdv
@electrician - you were not intended to be smeared at all. we are sometimes frank and leave out smileys, that's all, i know tommyp and that was not him being sarcastic or anything in that passage. we don't smear our supporters, we usually ask them for input you know, it does get confusing becuase this thread is, well, linear! i myself cannot follow half the stuff that goes on, because ALL of you guys have such great observations PER POST that doing support after hitting reply sort of blends everything together in one's head. know what i mean? that's one of the reasons i just applied for creation of a new forum for HFSLIP because the thread thing isn't really working out so well. what you spotted was an oddball bug that i suppose would happen eventually, and now we have a warning for it, because it could conceivably happen to someone else under the right circumstances.as for the script, some major fixes happened and i just reported a bug with my fileset having to do with mshtml and directx 9 integration to tommyp. he's back in the lab trying to squeeze more weasel grease out of the competition's products so, be sure to grab the latest once it posts, as it's important to get the fixed version. also, sorry to all for the chaos around here, it's the growing pains, we hope to move things to a new forum if we are approved.again, i want to reiterate that tommyp and i are hobbyists and when and if we move to a new forum, we will need all of you experienced users to give us assists as necessary, just like the nlite forum has become - more users, more knowledge. thanks to all for your support, thanks for reading carefully, thanks for being patient with us, and thanks for using HFSLIP and the IE Removal Fileset! Helios666
I removed RootsUpdate,XML 4, Windows Update, LegitCheck(Optional) that you mentioned in your site and dotnetfx.exe and it worked out right. I mean the installation.Although i got a couple of errors. Hope it's not that bad, maybe this was just because I removed IE with FDV files. Its not a bad thing, maybe the OS is just looking for IE files, right? (Regsvr32 - Load Library ("\F:\WINNT\System32\txfaux.dllHKCR") failed - The specified module could not be found. and then Regsvr32 - Load Library ("\F:\WINNT\System32\es.dllHKCR") failed - The specified module could not be found. After that another error - F:\WINNT\System32\wbem,msiprov.dll cannot find the file F:\WINNT\System32\wbem,msiprov.dll (or one of its components) Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available. Then replace that file with F:\WINNT\System32\apppatch, slayerui.dll. It's still operational just don't know how long. I'm using it now.errors.zip Edited September 26, 2005 by Helios666
tommyp
@Helios666 - As a friendly reminder of what FDV stated above, please see the proper error reporting technique as stated in the first post of this thread. Without your error_report.txt file, we CANNOT help you. @Electrician - No harm made with my comment the other day. . I thought you had said that you didn't have the sysoc file at all. I would advise to run a makecab command on the sysoc.inf file in your source\i386 folder to bring it up to snuff with a standard source folder. Once you do that, you can remove the the .inf, leaving the .in_ in its place. My point being that others have successfully done XP and had no issues with that file and it seems that your source is different from others. @all - I send FDV the fix for the mshtml and the double command in svcpack.inf. I guess we'll call it the Oleg_II version for this edition.
tripleX
@triplex - this is the right place for this, but hfslip only tracks its own errors, not those from my fileset, and the mshtml error was an obscure directx 9 issue, see tommyp's post below)<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Sorry to bother again, but somehow I don´t get it ....Even if I use W2K SP4 slipped only, then copy your sp4files.zip to i386 and burn, I still keep on getting "mdmrpci.inf" not found, OS doesn´t install (DX9 not used). Are your files for English lang. only? tommyp
@tripleX - You need to extract FDV's fileset and place the contents into the FDVFILES folder. Once done, run HFSLIP.
Oleg_II
Helios666I had exactly the same errors! Then I found that IEACCESS.INF in fdv's set should be cabbed makecab c:\IEACCESS.INF Add resulting IEACCESS.IN_ to FDVFILES folder and delete IEACCESS.INF from there. The errors have gone!fdv has probably forgotten to cab it Edited September 26, 2005 by Oleg_II
x-pert
tommypHow about slipstreaming KB273826 for W2k? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=enIs it possible with your HFSLIP?
fdv
@Helios666 - you zipped up two files, one of which was the right one, but also your setup log. we don't really need that, what we needed was the HFSLIP log, which is in the same directory as HFSLIP, and is called ERROR_REPORT.TXT, not setuperr.log. Anyway, it seems an INF file called IE.INF did not install, not sure why. You could reanme IE.IN_ from my fielset to end with an F, right click, and install it I guess. try seeing Oleg_II's tip: delete the OEACCESS.INF and IEACCESS.INF files, or better yet redownload my fileset.@triplex - my fileset is language neutral. try the sp5 fileset (even if you are using sp3 or sp4) anyway, you'll have better results. no one has ever reported this file missing. it's a modem driver file, and maybe you're the one person who has a computer that looks for it and the bug was just waiting to be found? anyway, as i say, try the sp5 fileset. it's been known to work with every language; if you are at wits' end, you could take out your modem, install the os, and add your modem back i guess. you will see it has its own section in the TXTSETUP and LAYOUT files, and i am not sure why microsoft did this.@Oleg_II - my chief debugger these days a new FDV fileset is up that takes care of this xEACCESS.IN_ problem (i did forget to CAB the files). i fixed this last wednesday or so, so everyone be sure to re-download the latest fileset. sorry all.@x-pert - the TCP/IP v6 addon that you cite is only for SP1! If you download and extract it, it will even say so. It is a technology preview, not a patch. Don't use it.@ALL - the new Oleg_II Build of HFSLIP is up, which fixes that MSHTML error when using my files. It had to do with DirectX 9 slipstreaming; microsoft will try to get just about anything and everything to install the security problem prone MS html system on your computer, and DirectX9 was no exception. fdv
@kreative19 - first, you have WAY too much in your HF folder that is unnecessary.visit the link below and look up IE 6 and make the directory contents match.http://www.vorck.com/2ksp5.html#4http://www.vorck.com/2ksp5.html#ie6you are also missing the directx9 cab files, BDANT.CAB and DXNT.CAB.i don't recognize some of those other cabs, but I am sure folks will chime in...
