os2fan2
@tommypIs it possible to reserve the word HIDE for files that one wants to hide (rather than delete). This would allow one to hide files by moving them to the HIDE directory.
os2fan2
@fdvI used the files as listed in the current version of the page, as it stands. I added the following items: tweakui, two .reg files, msi 3.x, IE6, defectx 9.0c, and that Windows genuine annoyance. The fdv files were unzipped into the fdvfiles, and i added my productid and time-zone to it.The reg files worked ok. I set things like imeasure=yes, etc. Will have to have a look at the profile path. Maybe it was not in the setup.inf. (i use a profile path that has no spaces in it eg \NTUSER).When i ran it with the IE.IN_ in the FDVFILES, it came to no problem in the install. I could not install IE6 afterwards, even on applying the "Active Setup" reg file. When i ran it with IE.IN_ in the HIDE directory (ie where non-active things are set up), the install asked for (in order), dhtmled.ocx, and iexplore.exe from the cdrom, and then when it registered the components, it asks for another .dll file. The only files i add via FIX at this time are the ntldr and ntdetect.com files. I usually add these via $OEM$\C. Wendy
kreative19
@tommyp- Please find the attached file director listing of HFSLIP. I discarded the IE5 , MSjava from the HF folder but they are present in the list.kreative19<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I'll ask one more time. Run a directory of your HF folder (YES that means ALL files in the HF folder), ZIP it and post it. FYI, a 7z is not a ZIP.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>@tommyp- resending the directory listing in zip file in html and txt formathfslip.zip

tommyp
@kreative19 - Have you read the instructions on how to use HFSLIP? FDV has clear instructions on what goes where. The instructions are posted on the first post of the thread, in the zip file, and when you run the program. I strongly recommend you read them. fdv
@murvun, your file list actually looks ok at first glance. tommyp may want to comment on it.mdac as you might recall simply is no longer necessary.btw, you PM'd me but did not post here that your 'hang on bootup' issue has been solved now. this is true, yes? just wanted to be sure... some german language users following this thread might be left with the wrong idea. (if it's fixed and was due to error and not HFSLIP, be sure to go back and edit your post with the screenshot, etc. thanks)@all - i have a new ie free fileset on its way but tommyp is doing some testing. a few minor cosmetic fixes and a few new tweaks. still have yet to add that ie icon removal that pene suggested; microsoft keeps moving the registry entry!the issues with slipstreaming ie6 and using my files -- it can work, but after checking this out, i can say it confers zero benefit. might as well stick with ie5. my fileset completely rips ie out, whether 5 or 6, and adds reg keys so windows thinks 6 is installed. the issues os2fan points out result from an obscure inf addreg problem, which would only puzzle most users. so while it is entirely possible, there's no reason.oh, what's that i hear? what about the updated shell files?let me tell you about them.... at my site. read step 24 to find out why they aren't necessary. removing ie is like removing the door on a house. so all that extra activex and zone stuff in the new shell files isn't necessary, because activex controls can't execute from a website without ie, and since html cannot display in explorer, zone issues are no longer a concern. tommyp
DEU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE isn't needed & tweakui.exe can probably go into one of the HFSVCPK folders. Tweakui doesn't belong in the HF folder. I haven't verified the other updates, but if the baseline analyzer says it's ok, then you're golden. tommyp
Can someone tell kreative19 where to go to read about how to use HFSLIP? I tried to do it nicely 3 times already. @kreative19 - Hopefully someone will guide you on where to go to get instructions on how to use HFSLIP. Unfortunately for you, you'll need to read it and follow it for the script to work. @murvun - In the instuctions is a commandline file-checker called hfnetchk. Please run it and report any issues. After running HFSLIP, the instructions are all there. There's probably instructions on FDV's site too.
tripleX
Just jused hflip 050827 to slipstream my WXPPro SP2 GermanAfter installing mbsa2 says KB890046 is missing (was copied to HF).Event log complains about msxml3.dll and winhttp.dll not beiing correctly signed (setuperr.log) .Has this something to to do with: REM AUG 20, 2005 - ADDED A FILE TO KEEP FOR THE BROWSING OF LOCAL NETWORK. DON'T COMPLAIN IF THERE'S A MISSING WINDOWSUPDATE. ?If yes, can this "feature" be removed or uncommented (Rem êd)?Using hfslip 050818 again, hope this works without a flaw.ThxtripleX
bireland
I followed the instructions except I used Windows 2000 advanced server instead of Windows 2000 and I'm installing via the network with Rapid Deployment System by HP. I ran into one problem. During the file copy portion of the installation, I receive the following error for 2 files: "Windows 2000 Server Setup Setup cannot copy the file: nsisapi.exe". Same error for nspmon.exe.
tommyp
@tripleX - According to KB890046, it has no bearing on the line you quoted from HFSLIP. The line you quoted was due to a webvw.dll issue. If you have issues with your installation, please post the results from HFNETCHK otherwise I can't help. @bireland - I haven't tested hfslip with windows2000 server. Sorry I can't help too much for you. You may be able to get around this copy error by using a winnt.sif file. Also, HFSLIP was geared more for installing via a cd, just as the instructions say. fdv
@bireland - do you really need Windows Media Monitor Service? those two files are WMMS. you going to be streaming media with your server? if you are, adding this hotfix to your HF folder might, just might, help with this error. if you never want to see this error again, open up TXTSETUP and LAYOUT in your SOURCESS and comment out these two files with a semicolon (i am betting you don't really want to run the WM monitor service).@tripleX - your DigSig error is due to a catalog file, not the 'browsing of local network' fix. if it's an error in event log... trust me when i say (popular mantra here) you should set your machine up to make you happy, not windows happy as for other issues, be sure to post the requested info from "languages" in step 10:http://www.vorck.com/hfslip.html#
