I often stop by my old house to say hi, but lately it's to have everyone test things for me.

Well here I am again to say "test for me". I have this client who claims one of my servers is corrupting his file and does not allow for the file to download completely. have downloaded this file and installed it and uninstalled it 2 dozen times and have never had an issue. Can everyone do a favor and test it.

1. The file link is here:

http://www.spamdel.com/spamdel.exe

2. Please state if the file completes. The total size on windows should be 1.06mb

3. If you wish to attempt to install to see if the file says it's corrupt just double click on it. It won't auto install. You will get a pop up that ask if you wish to install it. At that point just click no. This only checks to see if the file is corrupt.

I assure you this is no virus so before anyone says anything, You have my word.

Thanks to all who test and helps out.

I believe you, but what good is one's word if it's too late :)

Here are newsgroups comments on this files issue:

Emax asked me to change filenames, and zip the file. I carried out test with others doing this with no difference to the 10-15% failure rate. Its likely the problem was caused by their own explanation which they finally surfaced with: We took a deeper look into some performance issue on the server and found a possibility that may be causing your downloads to cut off. In apache we have a timeout connect set to 10 seconds. What this means if a user hasn't made any type of communication to a server for more than 10 seconds the user will be discounted. This seem to be the issue with your files as you say lower the connection speed or on a dial up connection the file doesn't finish. The issue is we can not raise this limit above 10 as it will effect the server performance. You can however link to the file via FTP since FTP has no connection time out.

Have since moved hosts and have no file download problems whatsoever.

Cheers,
