Turn off Error Reporting/ Automatic updates etc. Control Panel-System or Right click on My computer icon and choose properties....Then just uncheck what you don't want...

Although I consider them a nusiance too, how do you think some of the issues compiled for the sp1 comes? It don't come by carrier pidgeon.

Update works fine, if you believe that M$ will come back to haunt those with "unofficial copies of XP" I know a bridge in brooklyn for sale too.

Actually, I get rid of that by going to Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Services and select "Disabled" for the Error Reporting Service. (or similar)

Sorry... Just couldn't resist... Also, this is pretty well-known now.

I have heard that Microsoft gets 60 gigabytes of error reports a day.

Also, I have dissabled error reporting but every time a program crashes I still get the box popping up.
