would any of you bet this to be a good idea for my next investment:

would it have any practical effect on my computer?

also what are other good ways to increase system performance?

(no water cooling, too expensive)

I have max. number of chassi fans and run 4x 256mb ddr400 i thought if i had dual dual mode it would be better.

My ram came with those on them and they never realy get that hot, so unless you are doing some extreme overclocking they are not that usefull.

I use a seperate 80mm fan on a "L" bracket mounted to an unused mobo attachment point. I angled it to cool the ram, and force air flow towards my video card.

It's cheap, and works just fine!

Even with extreme overclocking it doesn't have much effect... As Treeman said: a fan may do the job too: better AND cheaper!

i didn't notice any effect. But I added 512 RAM and the Cooler brackets in one go....so.....yeah....

I like my system at a nice steamy 28.6 C. Atleast that's what the Temp guage on the front reads.....

but the mobo util for temps reads it as....

47 C for CPU

34 C for Chasis

I've always wondered if 47 was hot.....

Honestly the Shims dont do too much in my experiences, unless your overclocking a fair amount.

However the fans are much better tool. I have seen customers using 4 modules of 512 sticks in DualChan Mobos have continual rebooting and locking due to the fact that the memory nearly touches eachother with the metal shims...this creates a super hot zone and the memory con generaly not tolerate it.

So if your going with 2gbs of memory consider a fan..however thats about the only time its truley nessary
