Uszer Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 (edited) I just tried T2 on my 11 IoT VM (I forget the build number) 24H2 beta and it made it into a black screen of death even after a forced restart it is still, a black screen of death. What should I do? I can run the task manager though from the KB shortcut, can I do something from there? Explorer won't start, I've tried several times from with task manager Run. UPDATE: During another forced restart cycle I held the ESC key but it didn't help, I am still at a black screen of death. Also during forced reboots I am not getting the instructions to hold ESC if SAB can't load. UPDATE 2: I was able to call CMD from task manager, then call msconfig from CMD, then set msconfig to reboot in safe mode. There I uninstalled T2 and recovered my 24H2 beta VM. If not booting, run 'startisbackcfg /uninstall' or 'appwiz.cpl' to uninstall Crash dumps would help. 1) Import this registry key http://startisback.com/Enable_Crash_Reports.reg 2) Create C:\dumps folder 3) Crash 4) Send me dmp file from C:\dumps folder 1

I'm not sure what those are, but one thing I've noticed that seems to be missing is what I would call "progress" indicators. For example, when downloading in a browser, you would see the that taskbar icon gradually change color, signifying the progress of the download. When it completed, the icon would go back to its normal look. Is that a perk?

Maybe share a screen recording of that, You may have to link to cloud storage because MSFN has a tiny upload limit.

Maybe it's there but blending in.

I'm on 24H2 21620.1252, Dev channel, new taskbar works like the old one, but Show Desktop or Win+D shortcut does not work properly. After a reboot, it will work once to show desktop, and then it doesn't respond ever again unless explorer.exe is restarted. This also breaks fullscreen functionality in media players/browsers as it now starts to display the taskbar on the screen at all times. I've temporarily disabled the visual shortcut though I do sometimes without thinking press Win+D and I'm having to restart explorer from time to time. Hope this gets resolved mate! Much love for this product! Aside from that, every StartAllBack version I've used has a problem with top taskbar where the notificaiton area/calendar will most of the time pop out from the left side or not show at all after a restart until you go to StartAllBack settings and change the taskbar to bottom and back to top again. Then it will display properly until windows or explorer is restarted. Slightly annoying but not a ridiculously big deal, haven't scanned through all of the forums on the stable version to see if this is a known issue. In light mode as well, the arrows will be white instead of black until you toggle theme from Kinda 11 to Kinda 10 and back again. Weird issue but again, only happens once per restart, which is not a huge bother. Included some images of former problems, though it's pretty self-explanatory. Cheers! 1
jimmy123 Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 First of all I want to say thanks for the hard work, I've been using StartAllBack for a long time and love it. As soon as I heard about Taskbar2 I was very excited, hoping it would fix the few issues I had with SAB. Unfortunately this isn't the case for the biggest issue I was having. I am using Powertoys Run for searches and therefore set the SAB search bar to be hidden which causes the UI to be slightly misaligned. I tried to fix that with a custom msstyle but it wasn't really working out. Would be great if you could look into this. I am attaching images to show what I mean and a concept on how it could be improved. How it currently looks: How it could be improved:

Last issue with T2 I've found, the touch keyboard when set to Always On will not appear until you go to the StartAllBack>>Explorer settings and manually set it to Always On again. Probably not a lot of people have this on the taskbar at all times, but could you look into it? Thanks boss!
