Thanks for yet another confirmation! Now both executables scan browser files and tell something's fishy with the rest of the files, interesting. So this is not "only Vista" related, like someone tried to imply earlier, I see you're on XP Pro x86. 2

So perhaps some telemetry isn't completely removed in 2044, and it triggers the "trojan warning" reporter. Do you all get the Trojan warning while being online or offline? Perhaps the browser connects to China to verify the integrity, and "sees" it's not as it should be? Interesting. This would explain no warning on the original version. 2
NotHereToPlayGames Posted October 20, 2023 Author Posted October 20, 2023 I don't think you've followed the entire conversation. NONE of us get the trojan warning when running AS-IS. We ONLY get the trojan warning if we MIX-AND-MATCH files with this version and MIX them in with ANOTHER version. This has been the case with ALL previous versions. This is nothing "new" to only 2044. Many love 1030 (myself included), it too throws this "trojan warning" if a DIFFERENT version's chrome.exe is MIX-AND-MATCHED in with it. We should NOT be mixing and matching anyway, so there's really nothing to "fix" other then a "stern warning" - Please to not mix and match. I'll screen cap in a second, I can't have "both" open at the same time.

NotHereToPlayGames Posted October 20, 2023 Author Posted October 20, 2023 Shows up even if offline. But ONLY if I mixed-and-matched. It's only fair that if I continue to spend this much time on this error, it is perfectly fair to request that you see if this happens for you on an OFFICIAL version of Vista x64. No patches or hacks, no extended kernels. Because as this currently stands, this is ONLY happening to those that the rest of MSFN suspects as running an extended kernel. It is FAIR to ask/verify/test if this is an extended kernel issue and not a 360Chrome 2044 or Vista x64 issue. I did test in Vista x86 and had no error. I was unable to install Vista x64 in a VirtualBox VM - but I did spend the time trying and it seems fair to me that if the Vista Group seeing this error truly wants this working then we need some time from them.

I don't use the ex-kernel, I only use it sometimes - locally, and it can't affect this browser. My Vista x64 is original, but I had to update it to run modern games from 2021, yes, I hate this fact, I don't like updates. I'm now at build 6003. I'm just curious, nothing more, but thanks. 1
NotHereToPlayGames Posted October 20, 2023 Author Posted October 20, 2023 More importantly, this is showing up with a 1030 Chinese ONLY when mix-and-matched and is also showing up with a 1030 Russian Repack ONLY when mix-and-matched. But both work perfectly fine without any mix-and-match. As far as the error that @rereser discovered during a mix-and-match (which is not 100% identical to the error @Dixel is getting), it is not "new" and it is not because 2044 was direct from Chinese without a Russian Repack base. The version of the error not requesting a download SEEMS TO BE only given to extended kernel Vista users - at the bare minimum, can the Vista Group at least acknowledge if they are using an extended kernel ??? So far all they have revealed is that they are running Vista x64. I have demonstrated no issues in Vista x86. I'd hate to have to prove that everything ALSO works in Vista x64 only after that time-waste be told "oh yeah, we run an extended kernel". Seems FAIR to me. Does the Vista Group even WANT to run 360Chrome in the first place? If the answer is "no, we're only here to cast shadows of doubt on your project", then why are we even discussing this? Signing off... Toodles for now...

Cocodile Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 The browser might already had the chance to connect to the servers and verify against the original china files, if it suggests you to "download the latest version". 4

Nope. I modify the files before ever launching. I only launch the files after copied into a fresh VM clone that is deleted and re-cloned from virgin OS before the next trial-run. Network traffic is monitored, there is none. This is some sort of "local non-internet-lookup integrity check" that only affects Vista x64. And as far as that goes, only two Vista x64 users have reported this (both of which have said in the past that they have moved on from 360Chrome). Or did they? If the Vista users WANT 360Chrome 2044, that is one thing. I'd hate to think that we (myself included) have HIJACKED this thread with this "trojan scan" non-issue to those that use 360Chrome daily on XP and 10.
