YouTube running on Internet Explorer 8

Featured Replies

I got the mobile version of YouTube to run on IE8 using the google chrome frame, it doesn't run that well but it works.

I'm wondering if there is a way to convert html5 stuff into accessible flash player content for such old browsers. For such old browsers, I would recommend invidious instances.

There is for Opera 12 browser (on Windows). Which supports HTML5, but not H.264 and VP9 codecs.

Not forget Firefox 12 and Pale Moon 26

YouTube on Opera 12.18 (ViewTube + WMP + K-Lite Codec Pack)

The video is blank, because Windows can't capture WMP playback screen if ran with hardware acceleration enabled or something IDK.

It's nice to see youtube work in old browsers, I was surprised to see a browser that doesn't support the video tag playing content.

By the way, for youtube to show the mobile version, you have to change a parameter in the url, cookie, or google puts it by default in old browsers.

oh wow really interesting, how do you do it?

Windows Media Player plugin + ViewTube extension or User JS. There is another way, using Flash. But it is very complicated.
