Hi,

does somebody know, how to disable the Windowssearch in XP SP3 with all updates?

I want the normal search with the little dog back

@Dietmar

could you please report the SHA-1 values for the files to add and replace to obtain a working debug in XP (Windbg.exe included)?

I got the error message "windbg.exe is not a valid 32bit application".

Thanks.

Does somebody know,

how I can disable the Windowssearch in XP SP3?

I want only the old one with the little dog

Dietmar

EDIT: I get rid of this Windowssearch via the following:

First I delete whole folder in Registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP3\KB940157
and also
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\KB940157

From Microsoft Update catalog I fetch KB940157

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB940157

This is the "new" SEARCH, brr..

This I install.

And after this, I delete "Windows Search 4.0" using Software in System uninstall

Did you succeed in making the dog exist on XP SP3 ?

@Dietmar

thanks for your help ;). WinDBG now works but however I'm not able to get debug in my system. I had already tried in Win8.1 thanks to @Mov AX, 0xDEAD.

Same situation in XP on an haswell board that I used to install the driver for the intel i217 controller.  Here my network configuration:

Boot.ini edited as from your instructions. Hal3.dll and ntos3.exe copied in the windows\system32 folder together the minidriver.

No debugging when the 'target' machine starts, the system reboots automatically.

@Andalu

You need to run in cmd also ipconfig

for to get the IP number of the other compi.

And those two different IP numbers you put into boot.ini on the GUEST compi (NOT the compi where Windbg is running)
