Interesting... WU v3 ask for actsetup.cab, but the file doesn't exist...

In the engine.htm (the page requested by WU for the product updates)

The engine.htm is the core of Windows Update v3, so I will check all the details of this file to know what files are needed.

One of the site releases (R1097) have all pages, but wu still doesn't work and stops me with a critical error.

It also ask me if I want to download the critical components installer package (the file is attached)

Is it not working because I have a french system and I use the english site?

Edit: I tried with an english system and it still doesn't work

advpack.exe

Why you want to restore v4? For Windows XP, we can use v6, and for older versions, v3

It's because ME could use v4 and v5 (since ME is the 'last' version of Windows that based DOS)
