Just kidding, but I try my best too for years actually :)

Oh no, don't worry, I wasn't meaning at all that you didn't try to contribute in here for once. You also did.

Has anyone tried out Microsoft's new Defender application, which is installed alongside Microsoft 365 now, on Windows 8.1? It might be an appx tho, so I don't know if it will work on 8.1 anyway

I spotted that Google Drive still supports Windows 8(.1) and not Windows 7. I haven't figured out why since the latest version is using Chromium 105 as it's browser engine. Nonetheless, I think support for 8(.1) will eventually end this year as well, if they choose to upgrade the version to anything higher than 109.

It got really quiet here lately.

So, I decided to test some new software out:

- Office 365 (Microsoft 365) v2306 works on Windows 8.1 after installing a patch provided from MDL

-> the main problem was that Microsoft deactivated the ability to join the beta program after v2301 (8.1‘s official EOL). This could be bypassed if you had an older Office ISO laying around and installed it -> joined beta -> updated to the latest Office available. However, Microsoft also deactivated that option. Nonetheless, newer versions 2302-current, from what I know, work fluently.

- Google Chrome 113 (current stable)

Works. You need to modify some things in Chrome.dll first. Doesn‘t work on Win7.

- Google Chrome 114 (current beta)

Same as above.

- Chromium 115

I faced some issues with Chromium 115, it works good for a few minutes but websites, including settings, crash and need to be reloaded

- Chromium 116

Doesn‘t start. There is no error message or so on - it just crashes after being launched. Even with sandbox disabled.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend incoming

Has anyone found a way in how to make Chrome/Chromium 115 work on Windows 8.1?

Chrome 110, 111, 112, 113 and 114 work without any issue, but starting with 115 it crashes during the launch of the program. No error message shown.
