win32 Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 I found a version block for Windows 8/8.1 in the file, but nothing for Vista. So I think the D3D parts of 368.xx/372.70 are like this: 900 series and below: works on Vista as with old drivers Pascal support added in these new drivers that have no official Vista support, so no workie on Vista Drivers have specific Windows 7 directives, so Pascal probably works when Windows 7 directives are in force. So I think that once I can get the drivers to use the Windows 7 directives, that may be enough to get D3D working as good as Windows 7. Possibly including 12 unless DXGI does not cooperate. 2

Also, I believe that Vista maxes out at 5.9

With these settings, you should mostly be above 60 at 1440p if the GPU is working properly, at 1080p, it'll definitely be over 60. Occlusion Culling might improve performance. Settings.7z

That's modern web snazz for you: if it is broken in anything but Chrome, don't fix it. I seriously wonder why we run on a software like this, though it's by far better than most of the crap that many forums use now (XenForo and Discourse are my enemies lol). There however does seem to be fallbacks when JavaScript is disabled - so try to do that as it will disable the WYSIWYG post editor, you should be able to edit the spoiler then. I know it's unrelated but it should be helpful
win32 Posted October 2, 2020 Author Posted October 2, 2020 I just checked the kernel32 fault and it is not in a section of the file that I modified/added. It's in a subroutine called by ReplaceFileW, CreateDirectoryExW and indirectly by CopyFilesExW. Vista's WEI does indeed max out at 5.9. 2

MintChocAero Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 No problem. On a side note, is there anything in the way of... a collated guide to doing all of this? I've seen some links and info sparsed all over the forum, it's kinda confused me (like, even getting started from a stock SP2 installation I just done).
asdf2345 Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Apparently I didn't backup the .dll files on my test system. Will use my test VM
