July 19, 20179 yr Is anybody else experiencing this on Windows 8.0? Actually, how do I disable this? That's the critical part.
July 19, 20179 yr Do you have this update installed? KB3163589 Out of Date Notification is all it provides. Remove it! Hope that helps
July 20, 20179 yr Author Whenever I try to uninstall the update I get this message: (see attached image.)
July 20, 20179 yr I'd try those two classic commands first in Command Prompt run as Administrator: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth sfc /scannow Ideally, they would repair everything wrong with system files and certain registry entries and let the offending update to uninstall cleanly afterwards. There is a chance that when update uninstallation fails, that something useful might be written at the end of the log file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
July 20, 20179 yr Alternatively you can disable the five scheduled tasks that are included in the Task Scheduler>Windows>Setup folder, it will totally do the job.
