Does anybody know how to uninstall PoweShell 4.0 in Windows 8.1? It is built-in in the system.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

It's built in, but you can disable it in the "Disable Windows Features" option on the control panel:

Thanks Greemhillmaniac but it is PowerShell 4.0 not 2.0. With Disable Windows Features you can uninstall version 2.0 but W8.1 has 4.0 too.

Quick googling says you cannot uninstall powershell 4.0 from windows 8.1 : https://www.petri.com/how-to-uninstall-windows-powershell

However, if your Windows 8.1 is professional edition or higher, you might disable powershell via gropu policy: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1183987-disabling-powershell-with-group-policy

To be honest, its more effective to restrict it by user/UO. You should be able to use the Administrative Template "Don't run specified Windows Applications" and put Powershell and the Powershell_ISE for both x86 and x64 in there.

Edit to add: You can then link it in the OUs that you don't want the users to have access to PS

Hope this helps.

I have never tried running it, but the policy from the post mentioned certainly exist ;)

Now can you not remove source files by using the DISM command.  Then when you check the status of features is shows in a command window as "Disabled With Payload Removed"
