vinifera
I have an older mobile phone but it is also made as MP3 playerhas some SD 1 GB memory cardso naturaly it has some pictures on it and many songs (mp3)but some songs simply refuse to play as whole like comes to 70% of songthen error displays "failed playback" or even whole album from playlistthen after some time its ok again so my question is, since its old mobile phone in question, could this be the causeof scattered files or what, is it smart to defrag it from windows OS when plugged in as USB memory card ? puntoMX
I would not defrag it, just copy the data on a local computer, format the SD and copy back the data on it. Also run a anti-virus program while you are at it. Clean the contacts with an pencil eraser so they are shiny again.
jaclaz
Well, that was once called "poor man's defrag", JFYI :http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/150956-will-win2000-pro-do-everything-98-does/?p=979493 jaclaz
vinifera
problem with formatting is that when phone is connected via usb to pcpc "combines" both internal phone and sd card memory into one driveso if i do format i would screw some internal sys settings of phone itself
bphlpt
That is very odd, since you seem to think you can defrag it separately, and they are not combined for me. But if that is true for you, then use a SD card to USB adapter to plug the card directly into the computer for formatting. vinifera
don't have itwhat i'm doing now is moving all files to PCwill take out the memory card, clean the contactsthen remove back in order by file type (pictures, music)so there at least by my logic, nothing gets scattered if that fails I don't know what the heck should I do... -----------------ok done all that and it still gives me same problems the only problem it might be that "filesystem" of card is FAT, (i guess fat16 ????)but I don't have a MP3 bigger than ~9 MB if that causes issues ? "oh lord", think I found problem, my poor old phone can't handle VBR, so songs must be CBR Edited April 18, 2015 by vinifera
