1st try with intergrated sata driver failed

hi all, im a newbie to this nlite software, i need help to get over with my problem in the installation of windows xp for sata hard disk, tested using virtual box.

things i do in nlite

1.only integrate the sata controler driver

(am i missing other driver or anything? need a instructions from expert here)

the result turns out after done installing devices, it pops up kernel blue screen... sorry that i only know the kernel word on that blue screen...

Which exact driver(s) are you trying to integrate with nlite (or which specific computer is it)?

 

I mean, it makes little sense to test in virtual box something that will behave differently when (if) the actual specific hardware is detected.

 

There are tens (or more) different SATA drivers, and the installation of the one (or the other) will be "triggered" by the install routine hardware autodetection.

 

If you are trying to make a (almost) "universal" Windows XP install disk, you'd better go for the DriverPacks (the site does provide detailed instructions for use with nlite):

Use another driver (v7.8) or another hardware.

If your bios motherboard has option to change from SATA(AHCi) to IDE you can install XP without integrating sata driver.

Then after installation you can enable SATA using a reg value and SATA drivers.

@condor sadly the bios dont have the menu...

Also from what you write, you get past the partitioning/formatting part of the install and things go wrong far later ("after done installing devices"), so what makes you think that the problem comes from the SATA driver?

Maybe there is the usual communication problem.

 

You should have a "goal" or "expectation".

 

Is this goal ?:

1. prepare an XP source that can be installed in VirtualBox
2. prepare an XP source that can be installed on a specific machine (with a specific SATA controller)
3. prepare an XP source that can be installed on a large number (but not *all*) of machines with various SATA controllers

Please choose one.

 

If your goal is #2 and you wish to test the result in VirtualBox, it is very likely that you will fail.

it doesnt really need to work fine on virtual box in order to install on the system?? well thats what i thought though... by test on virtual box 1st
