koden Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Hi I'm about to make my own win 7 with RT 7 lite. Thats working fine.. I use my own win 7 x64 disk. The files on that is 3.1 GB SP1 I have downloadet is ca. 900 MB So when sp1 is slipstreamed I have a 4 GB file. But I have found some slipstreamet files on internet where the ISO x64 with sp1 only is 3.3 GB is this because my win 7 disk have all versions build in and the one I found maybe only is win 7 standard? I remember in old XP days it was possible to shrink the XP installation disk by removing some files that was not nessesary. Is this also possible in win 7?
jaclaz Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) I remember in old XP days it was possible to shrink the XP installation disk by removing some files that was not nessesary. Is this also possible in win 7?No , there has been a paradigm shift with Vista and later.Slimming/liting install discs now INCREASES source size by ADDING some bloat to the source. Come on , that's EXACTLY the idea behind RT7 Lite (and other similar programs), just like nlite did for XP, these may be of interest to you:http://www.overclock.net/t/805872/guide-using-rt-seven-lite-windows-7-stripping-toolhttp://www.msfn.org/board/topic/157337-rt-7-lite-components-removal-explanation/As you might well be aware, the RT7 Lite site is down, so maiking use of the Wayback Machine might be needed:https://web.archive.org/web/20130624051520/http://www.rt7lite.com/jaclaz Edited March 15, 2014 by jaclaz
vinifera Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 thats not true at allI used RT7 lite for Win7 SP1 Promy install DVD is 1.52 GB in size
koden Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 thats not true at allI used RT7 lite for Win7 SP1 Promy install DVD is 1.52 GB in sizeOh yes it is... all I wrote is true and not a lie :-)How can that be... 1.52 GB ??
vinifera Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 It was more "not true" to jaclaz's posthence why I wrote what I got with "liting 7"as for result, I think your main mistake is that you use RTM and then integration of SP 1I always find it better to use already integrated SP 1 in OS by MS as base source for editingat least that way nothing wrong can happen unlike via integrating via other toolsas for slimming down, you can always chose what you really need and what notI can give you my RT7 configuration if you want to check it outbut I noticed you use 64bit OS and I use 32bit one, dunno if ISO size has different outcome
bphlpt Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 thats not true at allI used RT7 lite for Win7 SP1 Promy install DVD is 1.52 GB in sizeIt was more "not true" to jaclaz's posthence why I wrote what I got with "liting 7"I think you misinterpreted what jaclaz said. The first part was just playful sarcasm:No , there has been a paradigm shift with Vista and later.Slimming/liting install discs now INCREASES source size by ADDING some bloat to the source. While the very next line confirms that 'Of course it is possible to shrink the Win7 installation disk by removing some files that are not necessary':Come on , that's EXACTLY the idea behind RT7 Lite (and other similar programs), just like nlite did for XP, ...Cheers and Regards
jaclaz Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Yep , I found funny that the OP had already "found" RT7 Lite AND asked:....I'm about to make my own win 7 with RT 7 lite.....I remember in old XP days it was possible to shrink the XP installation disk by removing some files that was not nessesary. Is this also possible in win 7?it sounded to me a lot like :I'm about to hit this new nail right on the head with my brand new hammer.I remember that in the old times nails used to enter materials when hit on the head by hammers.Does this still happen?jaclaz
jaclaz Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 sorry for asking.. just forget it. No problem whatever , it is only some perfectly innocent fun, sometimes things get written in a way that they can be read differently from their intended meaning. jaclaz
koden Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 I know and my english is not always that good..
vinifera Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I think you misinterpreted what jaclaz said. The first part was just playful sarcasmmy apology thenhe sounds sometimes so serious
jaclaz Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I think you misinterpreted what jaclaz said. The first part was just playful sarcasm my apology then he sounds sometimes so serious Hmmm , you seemingly need one of these : jaclaz
videobruce Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I have gotten it down below 1.6GB more than once using Unlocker after RT Seven expands the folders.BTW, you don't need to slipstream sp1, you can get it with sp1 already slipstreamed from Digital River.
koden Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 hilike the links in this thread?http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/446844-digital-river-links-for-windows-7-sp1-media
