Tripredacus Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 64K seems like such a small upgrade considering the amount of memory on the base system already.
tain Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 If you and everyone you know has just X of something (or even worse, are LIMITED to having just X of something)...then being the only one with X+10% makes you the richest person in your community.
bphlpt Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) I find it interesting to remember that back then that 64KB of memory took up an entire plugin board, probably something like this:or this:(Yes I know that example is of a 4M addin card, and the first one is 64K SRAM for the S100 bus, but the idea is the same.)Compare that today with being able to get a 64GB micro SD for US $24.99, compared to the US $149.00 memory board which is equivalent to US $275.37 in today's money. ie for the same price of the old 64KB board, you can get 704GB of memory today, 11,264 times as many bytes of memory, or 1,126,399% more, (if I did that math right). Technology has definitely advanced. If only humanity had advanced as far. Cheers and Regards Edited March 3, 2014 by bphlpt
