jaclaz
An American in Paris rectius Two Americans in Vienna (VA) I wonder why exactly one of the requisites for these two job offers: https://theapplicantmanager.com/jobs?pos=BT141 https://theapplicantmanager.com/jobs?pos=BT143 is US citizenship. What kind of tool/app/program/whatever might be Basis Technology: http://www.basistech.com/ be developing that needs these two newly opened positions? jaclaz Edited January 23, 2014 by jaclaz

Tripredacus
It specifically mentions getting some specific type of security clearance. Knowing nothing about security clearances (there must be at least 2 right? One for weapons of war and probably a higher one where you can talk to the aliens) it is likely because those types of clearances require you to be a US citizen. I wouldn't think it would be particularly necessary to point that out, but I suspect that this company has had problems in the past of foreign nationals applying for their positions. Just stick that one line in there and maybe cut down on the unqualified applicants? Not that I ever paid close attention to that kind of thing, as I have (had) a history of just applying for a job anyways...Anyways, I would imagine that there would be some program (not software) or certification requirements for some critical aspect of that job and getting that type of clearance handles that. It is probably similar to how computer companies need to maintain a specific level of Microsoft or Cisco certified employees, NDAs and contracts and all that stuff. Its like saying I am a Microsoft Partner, so I have a Microsoft Security Clearance that gives me access to normally restricted information, tools or training. Trip, you are taking it far too seriously.I was just joking, in these times of Snowden revelations and NSA related talks the accent is to the fact that the mentioned firm, that has been involved with making Police, Government, Military and more generally "Forensics" and "Intelligence" software since years (and besides "sponsors" the excellent Autopsy Free/Open Source tool ) is "clearly" and "publicly" (as opposed to "secretly" or "undercover") recruiting people for what cannot but be a new "secret" software of some kind....Just for the record the TS/SCI:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._security_clearance_termshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_Scope_Background_Investigationhas NOTHING to do with qualification of any kind (academic or work experience) it is just the result of a very accurate check of your past, you might need one even to become a janitor :http://www.clearancejobs.com/jobs/1787004/janitor-with-active-ts-sci-clearancejaclaz

ROTS
I am against these people period, and I am against anybody who stands up for them. Just another way to invade a persons privacy. They can be called heroes is they can prevent kidnappings, home invasions,. Otherwise, they are a dying industry because the world is now a more peaceful place. They belong with the same group who does not support self-control, and would rather not have any knowing about god to be known. Hiding behind children, to steal money from people who are not even born yet.Light Bulbs?I guess they do not have the budget for a Janitor.
