March 25, 200422 yr No, u do not need to wipe the files. If you run a repair install, it will keep everything intact, exept windows updates. To perform a repair install, boot from the xp cd and press enter to got to the install menu. Then, highlight the partition with windows on it and press R. It will look like a full install, but everything will be intact.

If you need to reinstall WindowsXP and want to keep all your current installed applications and settings:Start WindowsXP Go to the location of your source files Run WINNT32 /unattend It's always wise to backup precious items first of course
