Operating system for best performance with 9600 GT

Hello i have this card:

Inno3d Ichill Geforce 9600 GT 512 MB and i was wondering what would be the best operating system to get the most from this card while playing games of DX 10 and DX 9 type.

Windows XP Pro 32 bit SP2 or SP3

Or

Windows 7 32 bit

My specs are:

Dual core 2.0 GHZ E2180

Intel dg41wv

ddr3 4 gb

500 mb Hard disk with 16 MB cache

builtin realtek 662 audio

500 PSU power supply

Considering that XP doesn't support DirectX 10, I'm going to say Vista or 7. I guess some people can hack DX10 to work in XP but I never trusted that idea.

+1 on Windows 7 64Bit, also for the chipset drivers of the mobo and that CPU, plus you don't want to loose 0.75GB of RAM to a 32Bit OS.

I am planning to play dx 9 and dx 10 games released before 2008

You'll need vista or win7 for the dx10 games.

If you trust benchmarks then XP should be faster for DX9 games... but if you actually want to buy the OS it'd be wiser to go for 7.
