jvidal Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Thx, mimo!BTW, I see you still haven't done anything about KB2264107.This update should be moved to the "optional" list.MU/WU DOES NOT ASK FOR IT. IT IS NOT HIGH PRIORITY. It causes more problems than the one it supposedly fixes. What more do you need to change its status to optional?
Mim0 Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 ...What more do you need to change its status to optional? ...I'm thinking about the INI-setting for the file-checker, where you can set ADVISORIES=0/1. The expectation should be that all missing advisories will be reported. But I agree, a non-high-priority advisory should be handled in another way than a high-priority advisory. But on the other side, it's not bad when you replace existing files with the files from KB2264107, because you need to activate the new functionality in the registry. My idea now is, to make it more prominent that KB2264107 is optional (but leave it still as advisory in the file-checker):add a remark in the update-list, that this is optional, add a remark in the update-name (file-checker) were you can see that this update is optional when this update will be reported as missing.add an additional hint for this update (file-checker) were you can see that this update is optional when this update was found in HFIs it a passable compromise?
jvidal Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Yeah, that seems passable.I think it should be tagged "optional", the script shouldn't flag it as "missing" when it's not present in HF and IF it is present, then it should display a warning about it and a tip that it needs to be activated via the registry...I also think this one should be handled separately to other advisories. This is a special one.IF advisories=0, then other useful advisories might be left out...just my $2cbye!
Acheron Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I noticed today HFSLIP does not copy the kb942288-v3.cat file to the SVCPACK directory when integrating Windows Installer 4.5.I have added the following line:IF EXIST TEMP\UPDATE\*.cat MOVE/Y TEMP\UPDATE\*.cat WORK\SVCPACKnear the end of the :MSI45 section of HFSLIP to fix the signature verification of msiexec.exe and some other dll files. The only file that does not have a signature is msisip.dll. Searching for a solution online I found some suggestions to replace the cat file with the one from the english hotfix. It seems Microsoft has replaced this update online with an international version, and this workaround likely does not work anymore.Has anyone more information about this?
Explorer09 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) 2809289 replace 2817183 (Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP)956744 replace 2813345 (Remote Desktop Connection 6.1 Client)2483614 replace 2813347 (Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 Client)2799494 replace 2813170 2621146 replace 2772930 (Active Directory)2646524 replace 28209172778344 replace 28087352626416 yerine 2801109 (Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM))Please use the right grammar tense of the verbs. Or your meaning will be reversed. For example 2809289 is replaced by 2817183not "2809289 replaces 2817183".Also, I correct a few errors:2801109 (Active Directory Application Mode) is not part of stock XP, so you don't need to install it unless you installed ADAM for some reason.2772930 is not needed for Windows XP. (MS doesn't offer the update for XP.)EDIT: Here's one more.
